When I took Katie home form the Kenosha Humane Spociety, it was obvious that we needed help. She was aggressive with my cats, snapped at us at times, was very aggressive with other dogs.

I didn't know, where to go - Kenosha recommended to bring her back (that was not an option yet) or contact PPU, so I made an appointment and met Annette. I cannot thank her enough for helping us with the first step, train the dog to get along with the cats. And how well they do together now! It's a great joy!

Soon after we started classes and met Laura. She is such a good trainer and a wonderful person. Katie improved a lot - she is not perfect, so we go on with the training and bring her to daycare, which helped a lot with the dog aggression. I am so grateful that the daycare staff worked with her as well. And Katie sure is so much better - neighbors and friends are amazed and we spread the word of the PPU and their wonderful trainers.

The office staff also is so friendly and helpful - thank you!

The dog park is a great place to go (of course we hope to see less mud and more grass soon :-).

We also hope that Katie soon is ready for some fun classes like agility or flyball. PPU has a lot to offer!

Keep up the good work!

Question about how Puppy training classes are run. My first puppy and I want to go to class but I would like a little summary about what goes on in the puppy class for 5 month old shepard/sheltie mix. And the owners stay right and are involved in the training class?

Puppy classes are taught with motivational, positive training methods. They learn their ABC's and numbers which in dog language includes, Sit, Stand & Down, Come, Short Stays, Loose Leash Walking, and manners such as tolerating restraint (handling), saying "hi" appropriately, leave it, drop it alsong with the socialization with other puppies and people. Owners and families are very much involved, we teach you to train your dogs. Feel free to come and observe and interview the instructors. Puppy classes are at the Racine campus on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings and at the Kenosha campus on Weds nights. Please contact us with any other questions.

What can I do to get Sasha over running and hiding every time she hears loud noises? It could be anything from her ball hitting the garbage can, the garbage truck, fireworks, or someone clapping their hands when she doesn’t expect it. If she is outside in the yard she runs in the house or if in the park she hides under the picnic table. We have tried giving her treats but she refuses to take them.
